Talking Books has a large variety of descriptive movies that you can check out.
Free movie loans from the Arizona State Library
are as easy to get as their recorded books and are also delivered postage free right to your door. The older
recordings are on VHS tape and they are building up their collection of studio captioned DVDs.
One warning, though: the DVD movies may have menus that require a sighted
person's help. Call the library people at 1-800-255-5578
Here is a list of movies now out on DVD
with DVS, and here is a current list of upcoming major theater releases
of new movies with DVS.
Caption Fish is a web site that will
tell you what movies in your town have descriptive video and when and where they are showing. This site crawls the web for accessible
movie information posted by chains, so only the chains that currently list accessible screenings will appear as options for you. Look
carefully because they also show other specialty movies such as captioned movies.
The
AMC Foothills Theater at the Foothills Mall has reliably shown one DVS movie
every week in the past but seems to be backing off. Call them at 502-742-5050 and ask before you go. At this time
there are no such offerings in the Maricopa County area.
These 4 Harkins theaters confirm that they are showing described movies in every
room at their theaters as long as the film has description supplied by the movie
studios. You will need to call before going to confirm specific movies, and
select the link in their names for the movie schedules. They will be adding a
new theater to this list every week or two.

For these local movies, EMVIA publishes a weekly list of blindness related events for both the
Maricopa County and the
Pima County areas, and they include
scheduled described movies. Select
Maricopa or
Pima for the links. New movies usually come out on Fridays.
